Our Work

Teaching Pacific Island dance to students of all ages and backgrounds in the diaspora is far more than teaching movement, it is a pathway to cultural connection, identity, and community. Our work bridges traditional and contemporary dance, allowing learners to engage with ancestral stories, values, and customs while also exploring modern creativity and expression. Through this connection of past and present, students help preserve and perpetuate Pacific traditions across generations.

For Pacific Islander youth, dance fosters pride, belonging, healing, and empowerment. For our students of other races and cultures, it nurtures respect, understanding, and meaningful engagement with Pacific histories and worldviews. Immersing all learners in the rhythms and artistry of Pacific cultures deepens their sense of heritage, strengthens community bonds, and enriches their lives through shared expression, continuity, and collective well-being.

We're Going to Samoa!

We are honored to participate in the 126th American Samoa Flag Day by performing at the annual Festival and Parade in April 2026.

Trip Overview

The purpose of our trip is to give students the opportunity to experience Samoan culture firsthand by immersing themselves in the very traditions they work hard to preserve here in the United States. It allows them to represent Pacific Islanders within the diaspora while reconnecting with our cultural homeland. Our goal is to create a positive and lasting impact on our students and on the island communities we engage with, contributing to the well-being of all.

About Flag Day

American Samoa Flag Day, celebrated every April 17, marks the day in 1900 when local Samoan chiefs ceded the territory to the United States. It honors both Samoan heritage and the territory’s ties to the U.S., celebrating history, culture, and community. The day features flag-raising ceremonies, parades, traditional dances, oratory, and community events, highlighting Samoan values, pride, and identity. It is both a patriotic and cultural celebration, connecting past traditions with present-day Samoan life.
